If I’m being totally honest, I have to admit something to you: I’ve been searching for a chambray button down for…years. The search has been on going, to say the least, because I couldn’t find an option where I loved both the fit and the color. However, all bets are now off because I finally struck gold just the other weekend at Old Navy. Lighter color, slightly more tailored fit, and not pricey – into my closet my new chambray button down went but not for long. After shopping in my own closet, I quickly pieced together three different looks to pair with my new chambray top (and I named them…naturally): working girl, perfectly preppy, and the weekender. It’s safe to say chambray will be a strong contender in my style rotation each week.
Huge thanks to Michael D Becker Photography for these photos!
Working Girl:
Outfit: Classic Light Chambray Shirt – Old Navy, Ikat Skirt – Target, Pearl Statement Necklace – Nordstrom (similar), Kate Spade ‘Gramercy’ Watch – Macy’s, Brown Opaque Tights – Target, Aldo Kavett Bootie – DSW
My office is definitely business casual, so I kept my chambray top buttoned, including the sleeves, and tucked into a skirt. To round out my look, I added a statement necklace, tights, and my favorite pair of boots. PS: My skirt is from the summer. Adding tights is a great way to transition favorite pieces from summer into fall!
Perfectly Preppy:
Outfit: Classic Light Chambray Shirt – Old Navy, Striped Infinity Scarf – Gap (similar), Kate Spade ‘Gramercy’ Watch – Macy’s, Braided Belt – Target (similar), Pink Jeggings – Gap (similar), Lucky Brand Emmie Flats – Macy’s
It’s a well-known fact among family and friends that I’m definitely conservative and preppy. I love pairing my chambray button down with bright pink jeggings, a striped infinity scarf, braided belt, and flats. Out of my three chambray styles, this one is my favorite. : )
The Weekender:
Outfit: Classic Light Chambray Shirt – Old Navy, Floral Thermal Tee – Target, Jeggings – American Eagle, Aldo Kavett Bootie – DSW
Because my chambray button down’s color is lighter, I was onboard with pairing it with jeans. In order to make this look ready for the weekend, I opted to wear my shirt open, added a floral top underneath, and completed my relaxed style with boots. I’ll definitely be wearing this to run errands on Sunday afternoons!
It should also be noted that I now have a full-fledged obsession with button downs. Eek! How do you wear chambray? I can’t wait to hear your styling tips!
